Nearly $8M Project Begins May 11th.

Lebanon, Ind., May 10, 2018– After more than a year of planning, ground has been broken on what is an unprecedented downtown project for the City of Lebanon.

“It took some brief convincing that this concept wasn’t just another plan that would sit on a shelf,” Lebanon Mayor Matt Gentry said. “We dubbed the project the ‘Lebanon Downtown Action Plan’ and we stayed true to that focus.”

The more than 7-million-dollar project will revamp nearly every facet of the downtown streetscape. Old asphalt will be removed to make way for brick pavers. Dated lighting fixtures will also receive a fresh new look. Crumbling sidewalks will be smooth again. The work will also make way for the city’s multi-use trail, The Big 4 Trail, to make its way along the southside of the historic downtown square.

The project has been laid out in three phases. Phase 1, along Main Street from State Road 39 east to Meridian Street is set to last 75 days. Phase 2, on Meridian Street from Main Street north to Washington Street, is set to take 60 days. Phase 3, Washington Street, from State Road 39 Meridian is also expected to last 60 days.

Companies: Remenscheider Associates, Butler Fairman & Seufert, Crossroads Engineering, City of Lebanon Engineering and Planning Departments, and White Construction all worked to make the plan a reality. The Mayor also thanked representatives of: Boone County Commissioners, Lebanon City Council, Lebanon Redevelopment Commission, and Lebanon Redevelopment Authority.
